Age 62, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2013. Maureen was born September 11, 1950 in Cleveland, Ohio. There she graduated from East High in 1968 and went on to obtain her nursing license. She traveled and lived all through the United States and Europe settling in San Luis Obispo, California, to raise her three daughters. It was there, she enjoyed a full career with the California Department of Corrections as a nurse and MTA. Shortly before retirement she met the love of her life, Jim Faas. They married September 28, 2002, in Reno, Nevada. Together, they eventually settled in Jim’s home community of Roseburg, Oregon. Maureen enjoyed every moment of the beauty and serenity of the Oregon, wilderness. In her new found home of Oregon, she also found an amazing family that welcomed her with open arms and warm hearts. Maureen knew that life was an occasion and she rose to it enjoying sunshine, trees, crisp breezes and hummingbirds at her kitchen window. She also found joy and love in her many grandchildren. She was never without a story to share or a smile to warm your heart. Maureen is preceded in death by her Mother, Dolores Kapera; and her grandson, Corbin Sarmento. She is missed and survived by her husband, Jim Faas; her three daughters: Heidi Rogers; Holly Porter; and Wendy Herndon; as well as her grandchildren: Caleb; Belle; Paige; Lily; and Roxanne. She will also be missed by the immense number of extended family whom she loved as her own. A celebration of Maureen’s life will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at 11 a.m. Taylor Family Mortuary, located at 245 SW Main Street, Winston, OR 97496.
