SUTHERLIN — Ben DeSaulnier hit a two-run single and a solo home run as Philomath jumped ahead of Sutherlin early and padded its lead with six runs in the seventh inning on the way to an 11-1 win Saturday.
Wyatt McKnight and Taler Jensen had the only hits for Sutherlin (0-2). Jensen also pitched four innings, allowing four hits and four runs.
The Bulldogs play at home Wednesday against Eagle Point.

EAGLE POINT — The Eagles (3-0 overall) scored four runs in the fourth inning and two apiece in the next two, running away with the nonleague win.
The Class 5A school got five innings of two-run ball out of Brandon Wilson, who also had an RBI single.
Wyatt McKnight (two doubles) and Austin Kennedy (double) were both 2-for-3 with an RBI for the Bulldogs.

FINN ROCK — Though he took the loss in the first game, Eagles freshman Will Shaw had a monster debut on the mound and at the plate to help Yoncalla to a season-opening split.
After dropping Game 1, Shaw went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple and five RBIs in the nightcap. Dylan Dover (double, three RBIs), Gavin Russell (double, RBI) and Alex Anderson (double) added two hits apiece for the Eagles.
Shaw was sharp as the starting pitcher in the opener, too, striking out 13 in a six-inning complete game and giving up just three hits. He also had two hits, but allowed a two-run double to McKenzie’s eighth-place hitter, Blue Bloomer, in the second inning that turned out to be the deciding swing.
The Eagles open Big Fir League play at home Tuesday against Glendale.

RIDDLE — Erik Rogers had a big offensive day, leading the Irish’s 12-hit attack in a six-inning nonleague win over the Warriors.
Rogers went 3-for-5 with four RBIs, ripping a three-run homer in the top of the second inning. Michael Schuyler went 2-for-3 and Jase Fuller 2-for-4 for Riddle (3-1), which scored seven times in the second.
Rogers and Fuller combined on a three-hitter on the mound. Riddle coach Jim Titus praised the defense of leftfielder Josh Carpine, who made some impressive catches.
The Irish open Big Fir League (Special District 4) play at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday against Umpqua Valley Christian at Roseburg’s Legion Field.

GLENDALE — In nonleague action, the Panthers scored 13 runs in the first three innings to overcome the Pirates’ early success at the plate, as Garrett Litterell pitched a complete game for the win and went 5-for-6 at the plate.
Litterell doubled twice, had three RBIs and scored two runs. Kris Pupoff added three hits and a pair of runs scored for Gold Beach.
Kyle Streeter went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs and RBIs for Glendale, while Dalton Stewart doubled, singled and scored twice.
