Saturday Prep Roundup: Glide baseball team whips Sheridan

GLIDE — The Glide baseball team bounced back from its first loss of the season Friday, using a nine-run fourth inning to defeat Sheridan 12-2 in six innings in a nonleague game Saturday at Sewell Field.

Eight players had at least one hit for the Wildcats (4-1), with Jake Livingston going 2-for-4 with four runs. Tylan DuBois picked up the pitching decision, allowing one hit and no runs over four innings. He struck out five and walked one. Zach Rose hurled the final two innings.

Glide — which is ranked No. 1 in the first Class 3A coaches’ poll — begins its Eastern Oregon road trip Monday in John Day against Grant Union, first pitch set for 2 p.m.

Philomath 7 Glide 4

PHILOMATH — Ben DeSaulnier went 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs as the 4A Warriors, guided by Glide graduate Levi Webber, defeated the 3A Wildcats in a nonleague game.

Tylan DuBois went 3-for-4, including a three-run homer in the fifth inning, for Glide. Jake Livingston was 2-for-4.

Philomath 11-14 South Umpqua 1-13

PHILOMATH — The Lancers blew a four-run lead with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning in Game 2, losing the contest and were swept by the Warriors in a nonleague doubleheader.

The first game was stopped after six innings due to the 10-run rule.

Colton Pringle had a big offensive performance for South Umpqua (2-3) in the nightcap, going 4-for-5 with six RBIs. He had a solo homer in the third and added a three-run blast in the eighth, giving him four round-trippers on the season. Connor Clack was 2-for-4 with three runs and Matt Kennedy 2-for-5 with two RBIs for the Lancers.

Lucas Sinclair’s two-run single in the eighth won it for the Warriors. Cole Chambers went 3-for-4 with three runs and two stolen bases for Philomath (4-1) in the opener. Hayden Doud stroked an RBI single for S.U.

Pirates split games

MERLIN — Glendale split a pair of nonleague contests, losing 6-3 to 4A North Valley and rolling past 3A Illinois Valley 10-0 in five innings.

Lizbeth Silva pitched a two-hitter for the Pirates (5-3 overall) against I.V. She struck out seven, walked one and hit one batter. Elizabeth McGuire went 2-for-2 with a triple.

Lizeth Silva went 3-for-4 and Jen Staten 2-for-3 for the Bucs against N.V.
