In loving memory of Orval R. Davis, a cowboy, a carpenter, and a veteran this way passed. Our father and loving husband left us for greener pastures. Orval Richard Davis went on his way on Tuesday, April 2, 2013. His departure was peaceful, with his family by his side. Orval was born on December 16, 1925 near Clayton, New Mexico to Ben and Susie Davis. He is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, Louise; his eldest son Benny and wife Tracy; son, Bert and wife Joetta; two grandsons, Shane and Colin; older sisters: Athel 102 and opal 100; foster brother, Jack; great-grandchildren; and many loved grandchildren by marriage. Orval was preceded in death by parents, Ben and Susie; brothers: H.T. and Clifton; and a foster brother Frank. Orval’s passions in life were his wife Louise, horses, hunting and fishing. He dreamed of pastures filled with black cows with green grass up to their bellies! A man of strong hands and deep rooted faith. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Taylor’s Family Chapel located at 245 S.W. Main St., Winston, Oregon. Eulogy from Connie Combe and Barb Murray. A potluck reception will follow the services at the Riversdale Grange located on Garden Valley Rd. at the corner of Quail Ln. across from the Roseburg Country Club. In lieu of flowers donations or memorials can be made to Veterans Affairs Hospice Care Unit care of Fran at Roseburg Extended Care Facility or T.C.U.
