Lis Ericson

A 17 year cancer survivor our dear sweet wife, mom, and grandmother passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, April 13, 2013, in Palm Desert, where she and her husband, Olof have a winter home. Even though Lis had been diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 1996, she was a true fighter. She never let it stop her or get her down. Her courageous and positive spirit was truly amazing. Lis was born on a farm in Vadum, Denmark. She was even at an early age an adventurous girl and loved life. She attended school and graduated with a degree in business. She worked in Switzerland before moving to sunny California. She started as an au-pair before she got back into her trade in the early years of the IBM computer. She made many friends and became active in the Scandia Ski Club. In 1967, she married Olof and they had two children. Together Lis and Olof had many adventurous enterprises; including catering, gardening, avocado farming and in 1990, a cattle ranch in Glide, Oregon. Lis loved to travel and had been all over the world. She returned often to her homeland in Denmark. She was always a gracious host and loved a good time with friends and family; which there were many. She will be greatly missed. Lis is survived by her husband, Olof; daughter, Suzanne; son-in-law, Mike; grandkids: Christian and Hanna; Son, Valdemar; daughter-in-law, Mikie; grandkids: Kaj and Carsten; sisters, brothers and cousins in Denmark. Sov sodt Lille Lis. A Memorial Service will be held at the Danish Church in Yorba Linda Saturday, June 1, 2013, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, Lis wished memorial donations be made to cancer research.
