Pettibone third in
Pear Blossom Run
Jill Pettibone of Roseburg finished third among the women in the 37th annual Pear Blossom Run on April 13.
The 45-year-old covered the 10-mile course in 1 hour, 2 minutes, 39 seconds. Her 22-year-old daughter, Sam, was the seventh female finisher in 1:06.40.
Marci Gage of Bend, a former Phoenix High runner, won the women’s race in 58:03. Former Glendale High and University of Oregon standout Rosa Gutierrez, now living in San Jose, Calif., was fifth in 1:05:45.
On the men’s side, David Laney of Ashland was the winner in 52:18. The top Douglas County finisher was Eric Olson of Winchester, who placed 190th by time in 1:16:50. Other area male and female runners to finish among the top 400 were Steve Huff of Canyonville (211th, 1:17:30), Colin Benson of Roseburg (253rd, 1:19:02), Joel Snelling of Glendale (256th, 1:19:10), Stacie Truitt of Roseburg (314th, 1:21:12), Andrew Madaus of Glide (325th, 1:21:43), Kristana Lee of Roseburg (375th, 1:23:32) and Matt Riding of Glide (388th, 1:23:54).
Skaters excel at
The Roseburg Skate Team, representing Parkview Skating Center, fared well at the Northwest Figure Invitational last weekend.
Alyx Mowder won titles in Open B Creative Solo Dance, Elementary A Girls Singles and Elementary A Creative Solo Dance. Eleanor Shipley won the Tiny Tot Singles and Tiny Tot Figures divisions, Raechel Warren won Open A Creative Solo Dance, Christi Warren won Classic Ladies Figures and Sekora Whittle won Freshman Sophomore Ladies C Figures.
Placing second were Mowder in Elementary A Girls Loops, Rachael Warren in Open B Creative Solo Dance and Rosa Lefeiste in Freshman Sophomore Ladies B Figures. Finishing third was Penney Shipley in Juvenile A Girls Figures, Juvenile B Girls Figures and Juvenile Girls Circle Loops.

Davis gets ace
at Stewart Park
Rolland Davis of Roseburg scored a hole-in-one on the par-3, 154-yard No. 7 hole at Stewart Park Golf Course on April 15.
The shot was witnessed by Curt McClain and Steve Soares.
golf set Saturday
The ninth annual Harold Stockhoff Memorial Golf Tournament, a four-player scramble, is scheduled for Saturday at Umpqua Golf Resort.
A 9 a.m. shotgun start is planned. Cost is $75 per player, which includes golf, use of a cart, lunch and door prizes.

The inaugural Roseburg Jamm basketball tournament will be held June 15-16 at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Umpqua Valley, 1144 NE Cedar St.
Cost is $200 per team for the double-elimination tourney, with a minimum of five players on a team. Registration deadline is May 16.
All proceeds will go to the Boys & Girls Clubs and the Local 110 Firefighters Community Fund.

The Riddle Chamber Benefit Run, a 5K and one-mile fun walk, will be held on Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
The race will start and finish at the Riddle High School track. Race-day registration begins at 8 a.m. Cost is $20, which includes a T-shirt.
