Age 71, of Tenmile, OR, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, April, 24, 2013. The fifth of six children, he was born in Watsonville, CA, on September 12, 1941, to Ora B and William B Hurley. He is survived by his wife, Ronnie; son, Jeff Hurley and his spouse Rose of Mesa AZ; and their children, Ashley, Alexis and John; daughters, Jennifer Hurley of Las Vegas NV; Veronica and her husband Paul Reeves of Portland OR; and their daughter, Codey Mathis; and Dustin Mathis and his wife Norma of Oklahoma City OK; sisters: Barbara Workman of Sitka AK; and Jonnie Kennedy of Sun City AZ; brother, Jimmy Hurley of Stockton CA; one great-grandchild; and his dogs: Pete, Sammie and Charlie. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ginger; his parents; and two of his, siblings. The family would also like to recognize the following special friends: Shelly Nyleen, Marty Schofield, Mary and Gary Cripps, Brad Halron, Vince Pulver and the rest of the rock crusher crew (you know who you are), lifelong friends Kenny Dutro and Lucky Barrow, Bobbie and Melvin McKinney, and the Cowboy Bunch. He retired in 2005 from Roseburg Lumber after 38 years as lead man on the rock crusher. He enjoyed spending time on his ranch, working with his cutting horses and watching Westerns. Please join us for a celebration of his life on June 29th and 30th of 2013 at his ranch in Tenmile. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Amedisys Hospice of Roseburg, OR in his name.
