George was 82 years old and born May 26, 1930, in Walla Walla, Washington, to David and Clara VanCleave. George passed away peacefully at home May 3, 2013, after a long battle with COPD.
George worked for Champion Plywood and retired from there in 1992. He loved woodworking and growing a garden after he retired from Champion.
George is survived by his wife of 46 years, Doris; daughter, Susan Vermillion (wife of Randy); grandsons: Darin and Jared Vermillion; granddaughters: Sarah Vermillion, Heidi Tucholski (wife of Joe) and Merle Hanks (wife of Mike); great grandson Trygve Hanks; brother John VanCleave; sisters: Mary Burton (wife of Alfred), Margaret VanLue (wife of Dorin) and Rachael Foster; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David VanCleave and Clara Beckman, sister Viola Barrett and her husband Gene, sister Judy Fenters and her husband Dale, and two special nephews Lloyd and Taylor Fenters.

A graveside memorial service will be held at the Myrtle Creek Odd Fellows Cemetery Thursday, May 9, 2013, at 11 a.m.
