Lawrence Allen “Lad” Dickey

Age 42 of Wynnewood, Oklahoma. Born on January 1, 1971 to Quentin D., and Aileen Rae (Stanley) (Dickey) Loomis in Roseburg, Oregon. He passed from this life on May 29, 2013 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born in Roseburg, Oregon, but moved to Beaudette, Minnesota. There he graduated high school and went on to win the “All around cowboy” award in Minnesota State High School Rodeo. Subsequently he joined the U.S. Army and proudly served our nation from 1991 through 1997. He was a member of the tank corps, when he was deployed to Desert Storm where he was wounded. When his service was honorably completed, he chose to attend college. He studied at Trinidad State College where he was a Phi Theta Kappa. Later he transferred to Fort Collins College in Durango, Colorado. This is where he graduated “egregia cum lauge” and obtained his bachelor’s degree in education.

Lad was a cowboy in both trade and lifestyle, this showed in his love of people, animals, rodeo, and the outdoors. He was also very spiritual man, who deeply loved his family and God. He is survived by his son Chance Quentin Dickey; his mother Aileen Loomis (Don); brother Col. Matthew J. Brady; aunts Karen Ericson(Jim), and Jackie Barnett (Don); uncle Bill Delaney (Chris); and grandfather Larry Delaney (for whom Lad was named.) He also had a very special “extended” family including “Sister” Jennifer Maret; “Brothers” George “Trey” Chandler 3rd, Everett Wookey (Liz), and Terry Sumner (Margaret). He is preceded in death by his father Quentin D. Dickey; sister Wendy Amber Dickey; and his grandmother Bonnie Jean (Stanley) Delaney. A memorial service for Lad will be held at 12:00 noon June 29, 2013 at the Roseburg VFW Post 2468, 1127 Walnut Street.
