Hazel Eveline Shelton

Native Oregonian Hazel Eveline Shelton born in Glendale, Oregon, on July 24, 1919, to Anderson “Bill” and Anna Winkelman passed from this world to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 11, 2013.

Hazel attended a business college in Portland, Oregon. In Portland, Hazel met Benny Shelton at an USO dance and were married on July 29, 1944. After World War II they made their home in Boise, Idaho. Hazel had a working career and retired from a major insurance company. Hazel and Benny traveled extensively throughout the United States with their dog. After Benny’s death Hazel moved to Roseburg to be closer with family.

For many years Hazel worked the concession at Douglas County Courthouse. Hazel was a strong moral ethical Christian. She was classy, polite, always had a smile to give, an angel to many, lived a full life and had countless friends.

The family wants to thank her personal caregiver, Judy Davis, who added years to her life and became an invaluable and treasured friend to Hazel and family. Hazel will be greatly missed. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 29, 2013 at Applegate Place, 1465 East Central Avenue, Sutherlin from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
