On May 9, 2013, Dorothy H. Herriges passed peacefully of natural causes, She was 68 years old. Dorothy was born October 28, 1944 in Roseburg, Oregon to Frank and Helene Herriges of Glide. She attended school in Glide, where she graduated high school in 1963.
On January 16, 1965, Dorothy was united in marriage to her first husband, Edward Henry, in Roseburg.This union brought her sons, Dion Lee Henry and Dexter Allen Henry. Although Dorothy only bore two sons, she was “mom” to all the kids that hung out at the house. Family friend Greg Hickman says “Dorothy was a great woman and mother, she will be greatly missed.”
Dorothy moved to Terry Montana in 1996. But continued to work for one of her favorite employers, Oregon tax specialists until 1997. Known to be a workaholic, she volunteered at the senior center in Terry for several years. She moved to miles city for a couple of years, and worked at GMC liquor store. Upon her return to Terry in June 2012, she worked at four corners convenience store until her passing.
Some of the things Dorothy enjoyed most in life was taking “exploratory” road trips with friends and family, and taking long walks in the country. She loved watching NCIS, and was a loyal fan of the Seattle Seahawks football team. Dorothy was a trophy earning marksman, and her son Dion says she was a pretty great shot.
Dorothy is survived by her two sons: Dion (Trisha) Henry of Fallon Montana; Dexter (Carrie) Henry of Glide, OR; grandchildren: Allen (Lindsey) Henry of Glendive, MT; Andy Henry and Crystal Henry of Terry; Kelsey Bales and Michael Bales of Roseburg; Rebecka Henry; Evin Henry of Glide. Dorothy is also survived by three siblings: Donald (Barbra) Lebreck-Herriges of Tacoma; DelRaye (Eddie) Miller of Roseburg; Daniel Herriges of Glide and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by her sister Donna Lebreck-Herriges, her parents Franklin D. Herriges, Helene M. Herriges, and her loving companion Jim Hughes.
