Douglas County Deputy, Douglas Edward Solomon, 54, a resident of the Winchester Bay Community, died Friday, July 5, 2013 at his home, following a courageous battle with cancer.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, July 13, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Pacific Auditorium in the Reedsport High School, 2260 Longwood Drive, Reedsport. Pastor Allen Chaney of the Reedsport Church of God and Sgt. Jeff Friese from the Douglas County Sheriffs’ Office will be officiating.
Private Cremation Rites have been held.
Doug was born February 4, 1959 in Seattle, Washington, one of five children born to Edgar A. and Shirley (Hammond) Solomon. He graduated from Klamath Union High School in Klamath Falls and served as an MP in the US Army Reserves. Doug joined the civilian law enforcement where he dedicated his career to the service of others. He retired on May 10, 2013 after his health refused to allow him to continue.
Doug was a wonderful husband, father and friend. He loved the outdoors and life on the beach with all its’ uniqueness.
Survivors include his loving wife, Kimberlee; his children: Mike; Rose; Amanda; Justin; Christian; Adam and Aaron; his mother, Shirley Solomon; a brother; three sisters; nieces and nephews; as well as many friends and LEO family members.
