Kurt Steven Andrews, age 60, passed away on Tuesday, August 27, 2013. He died quietly at his home in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains in the city Oakridge, Oregon.
Born in Detroit, Michigan to Floyd and Jacqueline Andrews, Kurt grew up and lived as a young man both in Detroit and San Diego. He lived the majority of his life in his beloved Oregon.
Kurt was a kind and generous man who cared deeply for others and was always prepared to lend a helping hand. He lived a simple life; he enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, boating, camping, gardening, playing guitar and caring for his exotic birds.
Kurt was a skilled carpenter and cement worker and spent the majority of his career in this profession. For several years he owned his own construction business and prided himself on the affordable, quality craftsmanship he provided.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Army; he was deeply religious and a devout follower of Christ.
Kurt is survived by his two sons: Joel Andrews and David Andrews; his brother, Jeff Andrews; and sister, Laura Cambron. He is further survived by his three grandchildren; his nephews; cousins and many other close friends and neighbors. His spirit will live on in those who knew him. Funeral services will remain a private event, as were Kurt’s wishes. Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield, Oregon is in charge of arrangements.
