Age 85, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2013, in Logan, Utah, where he had recently moved to be closer to family. Brack was a long-time resident of Roseburg, moving there with his wife and daughters in 1958. Brack was born in Silver, Arkansas, in 1928 to Brack and Clara Stanley. He grew up on a farm with his parents and seven brothers and sisters. In 1950, he married Ruth Wright who remained his wife until her death in 2009. In 1958, they moved from Arkansas to live in California for a few months, until he found a timber-cutting job in Roseburg. He was the father of three daughters, grandpa of four grandkids and great-grandfather of two, with two more great-grandkids due to arrive early next year. Brack was happiest when walking on the Oregon beach with Ruth, traveling to visit relatives, or working outside on his hillside and garden.
Brack is survived by his daughters: Karon Chiavaras and Dana Phillips. Karon and husband, David live in Utah; their children and grandchildren are Lea Chiavaras Clark, husband, Brett; and son Aedan Clark of Minnesota; their son, Andrew Chiavaras lives in Washington State. Dana and husband Fayton live in Albany, Oregon. Brack’s oldest daughter, Barbara Erickson passed away in 2012. Her husband, Ken lives in Salem, Oregon, and their daughter, Linnea Barrett, husband Neil and daughter, Lillian Gail live in Bristol, England. Their daughter Aurelia Erickson lives in Florida. Brack is also survived by his brothers: Toney Stanley of Sutherlin, Oregon; and Martin Stanley of Arkansas. His surviving sisters are: Rose Powell and Ann Watkins also of Arkansas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Brack was pre-deceased by his wife, Ruth; and by their daughter, Barbara, both of whom he missed every day. He was also succeeded in death by his parents, Brack and Clara Stanley; and sisters: Blanche Smith; Mildred Green; and Jean Waddle, all of Arkansas.
Funeral services are to be held at Roseburg Memorial Gardens on Friday, September 13, 2013 at 11 a.m. Pastor Rick Hahn of Vine Street Baptist Church will be officiating. Arrangements are being handled by Wilson’s Chapel of the Roses.
