Age 83, died peacefully in her sleep on Friday, August 30, 2013, in Douglas County, Roseburg, Oregon surrounded by family. She was born September, 1929 in Douglas County, Omaha, Nebraska. The daughter of Ladislaw and Elizabeth Zivny, she was the youngest of three siblings. On October 18, 1947 she married the late Anthony Earl Wilson Sr. During the Depression, her family relocated to Brooklyn N.Y.; it was there, during WWII, that Virginia married Anthony. Early in the 1950’s, the family moved to Redondo Beach, CA, and in 1960 settled on the Central Coast of CA, until spending her last days at Bridgewood Rivers in Roseburg OR, where she was loved by all.
She was employed by the State of CA, as a Food Service Supervisor at the Atascadero State Hospital. She retired from there in 1995. She was a member of C.S.E.A., a lifetime member of the V.F.W women’s auxiliary and Cooties, Girl Scout Co-leader and was involved with the P. T. A.
Virginia had the gift of giving; she enjoyed traveling, playing pinochle, cribbage, scrabble, and was an avid reader. She also published a book of poetry.
She is survived by her children: Diane (Dan) Hendrix of Otis Orchards, WA; Dennis Wilson, of Garberville, CA; Anthony (Robin) Wilson of Idleyld, OR; Walter (Rebecca) Wilson of San Luis Obispo, CA; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and ten, great-great-grandchildren.
Ginger was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony; daughter, Patricia; and daughter-in-law, Mary.
A wake was held Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Wilson’s Chapel of the Roses in Roseburg, OR. Upon cremation her Internment will be at the Chapel of the Roses in Atascadero, CA. A memorial service will be held in Idleyld OR, Saturday, November 9, 2013. email@example.com for information.
