Trina Chantel Person

Passed away unexpectedly in October, 2013, from complications with her insulin pump at her home in Portland, Oregon. She was 45 years old.

Trina was born in Roseburg, Oregon on September 17, 1968, the daughter of Cheryl (Sellers) Donahoo and Bruce Person. She attended area schools graduating from Roseburg High School. At the age of 13 Trina worked every day after school as a nanny for a Roseburg physician.

She graduated from Horst Mager Culinary Institute, now known as Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, earning an Associate of Arts degree. She was employed in the culinary community both in Portland and Florida. Trina was nurtured and educated by her stepfather, Stan Donahoo.

Trina lived in Orveida, Florida raising her two sons. She worked in the library of their school and volunteered in their childhood events. The character and integrity of her two sons are a testament to her devotion to them and the time and energy she devoted to them. She also volunteered her time to the care of the elderly. Trina loved all animals. While living in rural Florida she had a rabbit, four chickens, four dogs and a bird.

With her sons now attending Central Florida State University in Orlando Trina was looking forward to beginning the next chapter of her life returning to Portland to be near her Oregon family, moving within blocks of her brother Kevin and his wife Edel.

Trina was baptized and married in St. George’s Episcopal Church of Roseburg. She was a member of the Lutheran Church in Orvieda, Florida. Upon her return to Oregon she was excited about establishing her membership in the Old Catholic Church in Canby.

Trina developed type 1, juvenile diabetes at age seven. She attended and volunteered at the Gales Creek Diabetes Camp for many years. For those who wish to honor Trina’s memory donations can be sent to: The Gales Creek Diabetes Children’s Camp, 7110 SW Fir Loop, Ste. 170, Portland, OR 97223; Friends of Umpqua Valley K-9 Program, P.O.
