Fish in Diamond Lake will be the main topic of discussion at Thursday’s meeting of the Umpqua Valley Fly Fishers.
The meeting is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. at Round Table Pizza Restaurant, 2040 N.W. Stewart Parkway. The public is invited.
Laura Jackson, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife’s regional fisheries biologist, will talk about trout in Diamond Lake, a Cascade Mountain lake 85 miles east of Roseburg. She will evaluate the success of treating the lake with rotenone several years ago to remove an over population of tui chubs. The lake was restocked with several subspecies of rainbow trout.
The Umpqua Valley Fly Fishers meet the first Thursday of each month at Round Table Pizza.
