Dorothy Ellen Moser

Dotty passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the Mercy Hospital. She was surrounded by her family. She was born September 22, 1935 to Leonard and Marion Miller in Roseburg, Oregon, their third daughter of six kids. She was raised through 8th grade in Roseburg and her family moved to Auburn, Washington in 1950, where she completed one year of High School in Auburn, then one year at Puyallup, Washington. She met her husband, Claude E. Moser in Roseburg in 1948 and they married June 15, 1953 in Puyallup, Washington. Last June, they celebrated their 60th Anniversary. They lived in Portland, Oregon, where Claude served in the Air Force. They had three children: Teresa Moser, Claude Jr. and Arlene Clark. Claude served 20 years in the Air Force, which allowed them to live in Florida and California. When he retired they moved to Colton, Oregon, where they lived for about 28 years. They then moved to Florida to be near their daughter, Arlene, for a few years and retired in Myrtle Creek. Dotty loved working in the yard, decorating at Christmas time, and when she could not work outside she liked to sew and make quilts. She was known for her popcorn balls, jellies and date nut cake. Dotty loved to collect tea cups and saucers and dolls. Dotty was a Girl Scout Leader many years starting in 1962. She was the headquarters for her local area Girl Scout Cookie Sale. Later in life she helped her granddaughters sell Girl Scout Cookies. Dotty worked as a Bar Tender in a small neighborhood bar for a year when they lived in Portland and while living in Colton she worked at Camp Adams as a cook for the summer camp. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Leo, sister Elizabeth and grandson Timothy. Dotty is survived by her husband Claude; daughters, Teresa and Arlene Clark and son, Claude Jr. of Myrtle Creek; her three sisters: Lucille (Billie) and husband Jim Haughton of Thompson Falls, MT, Catherine Allen of Salem, OR and Alice Exton of Coos Bay, OR; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held Tuesday January 21, 2014 at All Souls Catholic Church in Myrtle Creek, OR from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall and will be followed by the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Roseburg, OR. There will be a luncheon held at the Church Hall in Myrtle Creek after Mass.
