Letter: Thank unsung heroes in Douglas County for what they do for us

Service always appreciated

Our son is a career military officer and it is amazing the number of people who stop him and thank him for the job he is doing. These thoughts are greatly appreciated by our servicemen, but it caused me to remember the other unsung individuals who are not always shown the appreciation they deserve. I am thinking of the fire, law enforcement and utility employees.

At any hour of the day or night, you find crews from Douglas Electric, Pacific Power, the fire departments and law enforcement working in time of emergency. It is usually in adverse conditions and circumstances, to provide us with services that make our lives safer and more comfortable.

So when you see one of the crews working or around town, please thank them for the job they do. Of course, they will say it is just part of their job, but thanks are always appreciated. We have enough negativity in the world, so let’s do our part to throw some positive light on the situation.
