Letter: Support the armed forces, but not government waste

Govt. spending is questionable

I wanted to say a little something about government waste. For the past several years, I’ve been walking past the armed forces recruitment station in the One Champion Plaza. During that time I’ve noticed there are usually seven, but sometimes as high as nine brand-new government cars parked in front of the recruitment center. This is a small center in a small community; why do they have so many cars? That’s probably close to $200,000, not to mention gas, insurance, tires and general upkeep.

Then I wonder how many recruiting centers there are in the United States and do they all have this many cars, or maybe more? Maybe I don’t understand, but that seems like more cars than are needed. I strongly support our armed forces and feel they should have any equipment they need to do their jobs, but I don’t have any positive feelings toward our government leaders and their lack of accountability for their spending.
