Letter: Utilize tax incentives for solar power in Douglas County

Look on the sunny side

So, you’re tired of the pipelines, the oil spills, the fracking and the air pollution. You wish you could do solar power, but you have too much shade on your wonderful house. You think the cost of solar is too high for you to contemplate.

There are tax incentives that pare that price down quite a bit. Those with little tax liability can “sell” their tax incentive to someone who has high taxes; the buyer gets some tax break in the process, and the seller gets part of the incentive. So, if you have too much shade, you can help someone else.

Let’s get this going, folks. Big energy will soon realize these tax breaks harm their business and will influence Congress to reduce them. Talk to your local solar guy if you are interested.
