Letter: Frog to prince: fairy tale or science?

Random chance or hand of God?

If a frog were to become a prince in an instant, most would consider the possibility to be a fairy tale. But based on the logic of some of the recent letters to the Public Forum, one would conclude that for a frog to become a prince in several million years is settled science. In that case, the only difference really between a fairy tale and reality is just long periods of time.

However, if I were to concede that evolution is true and settled science, but its mechanism is not random chance but rather the result of the deliberate superintendence by the Hand of God at every step along the way, would you let me join your club? I didn’t think so.
