Roseburg man arrested following car chase

A Roseburg man wanted by authorities was arrested Saturday afternoon after allegedly leading officers on a car chase through Lookingglass, Roseburg police said.

Police said they attempted to stop a red 1997 Chevrolet Impala for a traffic violation at about 12:45 p.m. near Harvard Avenue and Luellen Drive.

The driver, who police later identified as Billy Knut Wallace, 36, refused to stop, police said.

Wallace is accused of leading police through the Lookingglass area before pulling over on Brockway Road near Kent Creek. He was taken into custody without incident with the help of Winston police.

Police said they found a small amount of methamphetamine in the vehicle.

Wallace was arrested on suspicion of attempting to elude a police officer in a vehicle, possession of methamphetamine and warrants for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and a parole violation.

He was taken to the Douglas County Jail, where he was being held Monday without bail.

Wallace’s vehicle was impounded by Roseburg Towing.
