Coho salmon status in Umpqua River clarified

DOUGLAS COUNTY

Coho status

explained

Fishermen are reminded that there is a quota for the wild coho fishery in the Umpqua River below the Scottsburg Bridge on Highway 38 and that no wild coho can be kept when caught above the bridge.

The limit for wild coho from the ocean upriver to the bridge is one adult fish per day with two allowed per season in combination with other rivers until the quota is met of until Nov. 30, whichever comes first.

The Umpqua River above Scottsburg is not open to the harvest of wild coho. Any caught must be released back into the river.

Information on wild coho fishery and quota check: Roseburg Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife office, 541-440-3353 or www.dfw.state.or.us.
