Police Logs, Dec. 9, 2012

These logs are the highlights of initial emergency calls and reports to the Douglas County Dispatch Center. They do not represent all the incidents or their final outcomes.

POLICE LOG

Friday

Douglas County sheriff

2:40 a.m. — The caller heard about six shots from possibly a rifle over the past 10 minutes in the 22000 block of North Umpqua Highway in Glide.

4:18 a.m. — Theft of mail in the 400 block of Forest View Lane in Roseburg. The caller saw a flashlight in the area as he pulled up.

5:01 a.m. — Theft of purse caught on tape in the 100 block of Chief Miwaleta Lane in Canyonville.

6:09 a.m. — The caller thought there were several people trying to get into her house who are in the Mafia in the 10000 block of Lower Smith River Road in Reedsport.

11:19 a.m. — Fraudulent use of a credit card in the 100 block of Alpine Lane.

11:35 a.m. — Report of truck drivers pushing other vehicles off the road in the 7000 block of Tyee Road in Umpqua.

12:19 p.m. — Neighbors throwing dog poop over the fence into the caller’s yard in the 400 block of Char Street in Roseburg.

2:10 p.m. — Call regarding an ongoing problem with people drinking, doing drugs and setting up camp in the 300 block of Poteet Avenue in Roseburg.

4:45 p.m. — Storage unit broken into in the 200 block of Grant Smith Road. Nothing was stolen, but the unit was trashed.

6:28 p.m. — The caller said his ex-girlfriend’s parents invited him over to their house in Riddle and then told him they’d like to take him into the woods and kill him. The mother said she had a shotgun and a bullet with his name.

10:42 p.m. — Report of some people smoking dope in a vehicle in the 300 block of Del Rio Road in Roseburg.

Myrtle Creek Police

9:51 p.m. — Car egged near the intersection of Northeast Johnson Street and Northeast Pine Avenue.

Roseburg Police

1:08 a.m. — Report of a heavyset man wearing a red hoody with the hood up trying doors of businesses in the 800 block of Pine Street.

6:31 a.m. — Man urinating off balcony in the 1000 block of Northeast Stephens Street.

10:37 a.m. — The caller caught a man in his car trying to take his medication in the 200 block of Southeast Jackson Street.

1:07 p.m. — Theft in the 400 block of Harvard Avenue.

1:25 p.m. — Theft of medication from trailer in the 500 block of Alameda Avenue.

3:06 p.m. — Report of an intoxicated man walking around a parking lot in the 700 block of Garden Valley Boulevard hitting on women and saying he just bought a brand new Lexus and asking them to drive it.

11:54 p.m. — Man in his 20s screaming and yelling in the 2600 block of Edenbower Boulevard.

Sutherlin Police

12:53 a.m. — Fraud in the 600 block of Fort McKay Road.

Winston Police

2:05 p.m. — Bicycle found in ditch in front of RV park in the 500 block of North Main Street.

4:24 p.m. — Theft of bicycle in the 14000 block of Lookingglass Road.

Saturday

Douglas County sheriff

3:48 a.m. — The caller said someone is on his roof in Canyonville. He said he has had people on his roof for six months and this time they were looking in his window.

7:51 a.m. — Criminal mischief to Christmas lights in the 600 block of Riverbend Road in Roseburg.

7:53 a.m. — Forklift stolen from job site in the 100 block of South Camas Road in Camas Valley,

9:17 a.m. — Stop sign and road sign found on top of the caller’s mailbox in the 300 block of Riverbend Road in Roseburg.

10:41 a.m. — A hiker reported finding some bones in the 8000 block of Callahan Road in Roseburg.

11:10 a.m. — Lawn mower stolen from front yard in the 100 block of Taft Drive in Roseburg.

Winston Police

9:45 a.m. — Criminal mischief to bathroom in the 100 block of Douglas Boulevard where it appeared someone had tried to start a fire.

ACCIDENTS

Friday

Douglas County sheriff

5:15 p.m. — Injury accident in the 200 block of Pruner Road in Riddle.

5:22 p.m. — Vehicle hit a mailbox near the intersection of Austin and Carnes roads in Roseburg.

Sutherlin Police

10:26 p.m. — Two-vehicle noninjury accident in the 400 block of Northeast Umatilla Street.

Winston Police

11:37 a.m. — A city of Winston employee backed out and bumped into a vehicle in parking lot in the 200 block of South Main Street.

Saturday

Douglas County sheriff

7:14 a.m. — Pickup upside down in ditch in the 100 block of Little River Road in Glide.

Oregon State Police

5:57 a.m. — Vehicle went into trees off southbound Interstate 5 near Milepost 86 in Azalea.

ARRESTS

The News-Review publishes the names of individuals who have been arrested on suspicion of at least one felony charge or three misdemeanors or a combination of felony and misdemeanor charges.

Friday

Myrtle Creek Police

Anthony Joseph Cushing, 22, of Myrtle Creek on suspicion of third-degree theft and supplying contraband.

FIRE RUNS

Friday

Azalea Rural Fire District

7:07 a.m. — Vehicle fire on northbound Interstate 5 near Milepost 91. The right wheel tire of a semitruck was on fire.

North Douglas County Fire and EMS

4:08 a.m. — Fire on southbound Interstate 5 near Milepost 164 in Curtin.

7:42 a.m. — Electrical fire in the 400 block of Elder Street in Drain.

Roseburg Fire Department

9:33 a.m. — Vehicle fire in the 1900 block of Harvard Avenue. An older Ford pickup was on fire in a parking lot and the male driver was trying to put the blaze out with a towel.
