Don’t ban God, then blame him
Since the terrible tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary school I have heard many well-meaning people ask, “How could God allow such a thing to happen?”
My question is, what could God do about it? As I recall, God is no longer allowed in our schools. Some of these same well-meaning people are the ones who demand separation of church and state. They are also some of the people who are afraid that someone else might be offended if a prayer is offered on special occasions, such as graduation exercises.
We all know that the teaching of good moral values should start in the home. We also know that a few parents fail in that direct responsibility. Many of our youth are never taken to church by their parents either, where they might learn good moral values. So if some of our youth do not learn proper values in the home or church and the schools reject God, who becomes the teacher? Is the teacher then the television, movies, music, video games, etc.? Are these the great pillars of good moral values?
As a society, these are the questions we all must answer. The root problem runs far deeper than most people are willing to admit.
