Local medical care recognized
Since our move to Roseburg from Juneau, Alaska, in 1997, I have heard people make comments about not having anything medically done in Roseburg for various reasons. They would rather go or send their loved ones to Eugene or farther north.
My husband and I have both been hospitalized in the past in Roseburg and were very pleased with the care we received. Willy was admitted to Mercy Medical Center ER on Nov. 18, transferred to PCU, then eventually to the medical floor.
The staff in all three areas were professional, compassionate and very caring. My family and I were treated with utmost respect. We found the same loving care when Willy was transferred to Umpqua Nursing and Rehab Center.
In spite of such fine care, Willy was too fragile to continue on in this life and was not able to overcome the meningitis in his brain. Willy went to be with the Lord on Dec. 14, about 5:45 a.m., just a short time before the precious ones from Sandy Hook Elementary School left this earth.
I can’t help but feel God took him early that morning so he would be ready to help welcome that special group from Connecticut.
