Letter: Avoid anarchy, enforce laws

Sheriff should enforce laws

Are congratulations in order? Has the Douglas County Sheriff been appointed to the Supreme Court? Is he the one who decides on the constitutionality of all laws, or just those having to do with gun control? Should he make his position clear on other laws? Does he plan on enforcing drug laws or laws against rape? Will he protect the rights of those who don’t own guns, as well as those who do? How about our First Amendment rights? Is he for them or against them?

Frankly, we have too many people who already think they can decide for themselves which laws to obey. When those we entrust to enforce our laws take it upon themselves to decide which of those laws to enforce, we no longer have a constitutional democracy. What we have is the beginning of anarchy.
