Letter: Support our Douglas County sheriff

Support our local sheriff

In reading Feb. 3 Letters to the Editor about Sheriff John Hanlin, it appeared that they were written by people who read into what he said only what they wanted to get out of it. Sheriff Hanlin said he would uphold the Constitution of the United States of America, nothing more or less than that.

The President and Vice President want to sidestep the Constitution and dictate what the people of the United States of America can do, with Presidential Executive Orders that are not passed by our Judicial or Legislative system or the people of the United States of America.

Nowhere in what Sheriff Hanlin said was that he supported assault weapons, large ammunition clips or that we should not have better background checks. All he said is that he would uphold the Second Amendment of our Constitution.

I’m very proud to say I voted for Sheriff John Hanlin. He will enforce all the laws of the United States of America and the state of Oregon.
