Letter: Thoughts on gun laws and free-loaders

On gun laws, free-loaders

First, I am a registered permit gun owner. I am also a miner of gold and whatever else comes up in my dredge. I’m constantly coming up from under the water worried that some thief or druggie is into my rig or my stuff on the bank.

I agree totally with Sheriff Hanlin on his stand on our Constitution. He swore in to protect our rights. I recently backed up Sr. Trooper Donald Frerichs of the Fish and Wildlife Division when he checked out a homeless man camped hidden in the bushes where I was dredging.

That’s a scary scene when you have drug activity going on in southwestern Douglas County. Not only are these officers checking hunting and fishing outlaws, but drug activity and all. I say our sheriff and others around the country are in the right.

Now the welfare: It not only goes on in inner cities with free-loaders, but also here in the countryside. They get caught for stealing and spend a couple of weeks in jail.

Then they’re let out to their drugs or alcohol and stealing again to support their habits. They get food stamps, and some get enough to pay rent and get doctor care paid by us, the taxpayers. And it don’t stop there!
