Congress seen as self-serving
Once again your team in Washington has proven that the campaign slogan isn’t worth the ink taken to print it. Congress needs to rein in spending, most will agree.
However the sequestering has shown us that a self-serving congress doesn’t care a handful of cow pies about the people they represent, Republican or Democrat. Both houses of Congress have exempted themselves from salary and benefit reductions during sequestering.
Equally deserving of a slap in the face is the fact that congressional aides, the people who directly serve them, are having theirs cut.
I find it equally abhorrent that almost all of our congressmen and women left town early the day sequestering started. That certainly avoids all those nasty phone calls and interviews.
To restore some public confidence, Congress needs to stop placing itself in an ivory tower over its constituents.
