YONCALLA — Will Shaw introduced himself to the Big Fir League with the type of performance it will likely have to get used to on Tuesday.
The Yoncalla freshman was dominant in his second career start, striking out 13 in a complete-game, one-hitter to lead the Eagles to a 4-0 baseball win over Glendale.
In 13 innings pitched, Shaw has totaled 26 strikeouts and three walks while conceding four hits and three walks.
Dylan Dover went 2-for-2 for the Eagles (2-1 overall, 1-0 BFL). Gavin Russell had a hit and drove in two runs — one on a sacrifice fly in a three-run first inning and another on a groundout in the third — while Alex Anderson and Dylan Bash knocked in the other two runs.
Kyle Streeter had the only hit for Glendale (0-5, 0-1) in the fourth inning.

GLIDE — Sophomore Jacob Fricke went 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored, and struck out five over three scoreless innings to earn the win for the Wildcats in the nonleague contest.
Cory Finlay scored three times and Zach Rose had a pair of hits. Rose, Tylan DuBois, Joe Hanson and Brenden Fricke, who also doubled, each scored two runs apiece.
Glide’s 14-run third inning was plenty to trigger the 10-run rule by the fifth.
The Wildcats (3-0) — who have allowed just one run this season — are scheduled to make up their previously rained-out contest at Philomath at 4 p.m. Friday.

Hayley Livingston (single), Natalie Cordell (walk) and Heather Graham (fielder’s choice) got on base to start the rally. Livingston and Cordell both scored on passed balls before Jordan Olson’s sacrifice bunt brought home Graham. Harris, who went 2-for-4, followed with a single to set up her trip.
Lacey Swangel homered and tripled for Rogue River (2-2 overall).

OAKLAND — Megan Lymath hit an RBI triple and scored to deliver the Warriors the go-ahead runs in the top of the seventh, and the Oakers left the potential tying and winning runs on base in the bottom half to conclude a wild District 2 opening game.
Before Lymath, Kelcee Frieze shined for North Douglas (2-1 overall, 1-0 league), pitching a complete game for the win and hitting an inside-the-park solo homer to start a five-run third inning.
Emily Lytle had 11 strikeouts and three walks in a complete-game effort for Oakland (2-1, 0-1), but was the victim of four errors. Brooke Spencer, Devan Leisner and Faith Baimbridge had two hits apiece.
Frieze induced a foul-out to cut Oakland’s rally short in the seventh inning with runners on second and third.

YONCALLA — Brandi Joslyn went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, three runs and three RBIs to help the Eagles jump all over the Pirates and knock off the defending District 2 champs to start league play.
Three other Eagles helped the cause in a big way: Brianne Joslyn (2-for-5, three runs, triple), Karen Wickman (2-for-3, three runs, double) and Tabitha Shaw (2-for-4, two RBIs, double). The Eagles, who tallied 10 hits, did not strike out all game.
Brianne Joslyn also went the distance on the mound, allowing five hits for the win. She was given an early lead to work with as Yoncalla scored three runs in the first and two in the second.
