DRAIN — Tracey Doudna dominated on both sides of the ball for the North Douglas baseball team Friday.
Doudna, an Elkton High student, pitched a no-hitter with 14 strikeouts as the Warriors defeated Glendale 10-0 in six innings in their season opener.
Doudna also was 2-for-4 at the plate with two doubles, three runs and two RBIs. Jason Huckins had two RBIs and was 2-for-3 for North Douglas in the Big Fir League (Special District 4) contest.
Eligibility issues pushed back the start of the Warriors’ season.

The Monarchs held on for a Big Fir League (Special District 4) win over the Braves at Legion Field as Jake Forrester came on in relief with two outs and runners on first and second in the top of the seventh inning and struck out the batter to end the contest.
Danny Medak went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Joel Graham was 2-for-3 with a double and Cooper Tharp 2-for-3 for Umpqua Valley Christian (2-2, 1-1 District 4). Shallon Zehe went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, J.R. Kyllo 2-for-3 and Haden Sams 2-for-4 for Reedsport (1-3, 0-1).
UVC coach Dave York praised the relief pitching of Kyler Werkheiser, who worked 3 1/3 innings and was credited with the win. Werkheiser didn’t give up any runs, allowed four hits, struck out two and walked one. He also contributed offensively, going 1-for-1 with a sacrifice fly.
The Monarchs will host a spring break tournament beginning Monday at Legion Field. Their first game is against Regis at 4 p.m.

RIDDLE — The Irish jumped out to a 4-1 lead after four innings and the Eagles could not respond in the Big Fir League game.
Clayton Knous had two RBIs and was 2-for-4 at the plate, AJ Davis went 2-for-4 and Kevin Smith 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Riddle (5-1, 2-0 Special District 4). Jason Ellis was 2-for-2 at the plate and had two RBIs for Yoncalla (2-2, 1-1).

RIDDLE — Brianne Joslyn pitched a no-hitter and Salista Williams supplied the power at the plate with a home run and triple as the Eagles remained unbeaten on the season.
Joslyn struck out nine and walked one. Williams highlighted an eight-run second inning for Yoncalla (5-0, 3-0 District 2) with a two-run homer. She finished 2-for-3 with two runs. Tabitha Shaw went 3-for-3 with a double, while Emily Wickman was 2-for-4.
The Irish dropped to 2-1 overall and 1-1 in league.

DRAIN — Elizabeth McGuire fired a one-hitter and went 4-for-5 with six RBIs at the plate to lead the Pirates past the Warriors in six innings in a District 2 game.
McGuire walked three batters and allowed two runs in the first inning, then pitched scoreless ball the rest of the way. She struck out six.
Lizeth Silva went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and Chanel Stewart was 2-for-4 with a double for Glendale, last year’s 2A state runner-up which evened its District 2 record at 1-1.
Megan Lymath had the only hit for North Douglas (2-2, 1-1), singling in the fourth inning.
The Warriors committed five errors.
