Prep Baseball: Clackamas shuts out Roseburg

CLACKAMAS — The Roseburg baseball team ran into a tough pitcher Friday in Jared Bell.

The junior right-hander tossed a three-hit shutout in a 4-0 nonleague win over the Indians, striking out three and walking one.

Taylor Stinson went 3-for-3 with a double for the Cavaliers (4-0), who took the lead for good in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI single by Cade Wilkins.

Wilkins also knocked in another run with a sacrifice fly. Brady Fuller took the loss, fanning one and walking three.

“He’s not overpowering, but Bell kept us off-balance and was ahead all day,” said Roseburg coach Troy Thompson, whose club dropped to 3-1 on the season.

Kody Matthews, Fuller and Cody Watkins hit singles for the Indians.

The Indians begin their Eastern Oregon road trip Monday in Pendleton against Milwaukie.
