Letter: City of Roseburg shouldn’t donate taxpayer money to nonprofit groups

‘Just say no’ to nonprofits

This letter is about the City of Roseburg contributing to nonprofit organizations. We taxpayers say, “No!”

Any money the city may have after paying for the usual necessary things should be saved for a rainy day, like an earthquake or floods. Who knows what can happen?

Nonprofit organizations, like anyone else, should work for what they need.

Taxpayers are sick of paying taxes for welfare, Social Security (other than for their retirement), money that goes to foreign countries (most of whom hate the U.S.), foolish government spending, etc.

Any nonprofit organizations should support themselves by working in some way and there are some people with more money than needed who contribute to all sorts of nonprofit things.

Life is not always fair to some, but life is not always a “bowl of cherries.” There are too many give-away programs as it is.
