CORVALLIS — Oregon State Director of Athletics Bob De Carolis announced Thursday that baseball head coach Pat Casey has had his contract extended through the 2018 season.
Casey is the program’s all-time winningest coach and takes a 641-380-4 (.627) record with the Beavers into this weekend’s series with UCLA. He’s a three-time national coach of the year, in 2005, 2006 and 2007 — the latter two after winning back-to-back national championships — and was named the Pacific-10 Conference’s Coach of the Year in 2005, 2006 and 2011.
Casey’s clubs have posted 16 winning seasons in his 18 years with the program and he and OSU are poised for another as the Beavers carry a 23-4 record into this weekend. Oregon State is also looking to extend its postseason streak to five seasons in 2013, as the Beavers came into the year with a school-record four straight appearances.
He’s 35-14 (.714) all-time in the postseason.
