Prep Track: Glide girls, Camas Valley boys win at Douglas

WINSTON — The Glide girls and Camas Valley boys claimed team titles at the Douglas Invitational track and field meet on Saturday.

The Wildcats used their depth to score 109 points. Douglas was second (108.25), Sutherlin third (92.75), Oakland fourth (61.75) and Crow fifth (60). The Hornets edged the Douglas boys, 98-96.5, with New Hope Christian third (80), Crow fourth (78.5) and Oakridge fifth (70).

Glide got wins from its 4x400 relay team of Madison Gladding, Kali Vickery, Eli Rappe and Savannah Espinosa (4:39.44), Gladding in the 300 hurdles (50.60) and Caroline Brown in the 1,500 (5:14.90). Finishing first for Douglas were Alex Jellison in the 200 (27.36) and pole vault (9-6), Jean Rietmann in the high jump (4-8), Katie Jensen in the 100 hurdles (17.53) and long jump (15-2), and the 4x100 relay of Jean Rietmann, Jensen, Lacie Nolan and Anna Rietmann (53.30).

Sutherlin’s Christina MacDonald won the javelin (128-3) and shot put (38-4), Days Creek’s Jazmyn Herrington was first in the triple jump (34-5) and Oakland’s Cora Gallop beat the field in the 400 (1:06.60).

On the boys’ side, Caleb Lindsey of Camas Valley won the 100 (11.87). Sean Duncan of Douglas won the pole vault (11-6), while the Trojans’ 4x100 relay of Nathaniel Vosika, Chance Wimberly, Bryce Watson and Duncan was victorious (47.0). Chris Merlos of New Hope was a double winner, taking the 800 (2:04.20) and 1,500 (4:33.61).

Roseburg shines at

North Bend invite

NORTH BEND — The Roseburg boys and girls each captured team titles, combining for 13 wins at the North Bend Frosh/Soph Invitational track and field meet on Saturday.

Posting wins for the RHS boys were Mitchell Kilkenny in the 400 meters (55.00 seconds), Nic Feldkamp in the 800 (2:09.89), Josiah Burson in the 1,500 (4:31.05), the 4x400 relay team of Austin Weaver, Feldkamp, Zach Woods and Kilkenny (3:48.83), Aiden McGowan in the shot put (37 feet, 6 inches) and Weaver in the pole vault (12-0). Taking victories for the RHS girls were Devony Dettman in the 100 (13.43), Mahala Norris in the 1,500 (5:16.87) and 800 (2:35.17), Jenna Anderson in the 3,000 (11:28.63), the 4x100 relay of Hanna Girod, Andrea Gosman, Rachel Harland and Dettman (53.25), the 4x400 relay of Harland, Kara Krnacik, Dettman and Norris (4:23.64), and Gosman in the long jump (14-11).

Placing second were Weaver in the 200 (25.17), Arlo Willhoft in the 1,500 (4:32.73), the 4x100 relay of Kilkenny, Wyatt Harding, Woods and Stephen Patoine (47.13), McGowan in the discus (108-3), Patoine in the high jump (5-4), Owen Cuilty in the triple jump (36-3 1/2), Harland in the 200 (28.13), Riane Allen in the 400 (1:09.97), Krnacik in the 1,500 (5:28.87) and 800 (2:37.68), Gosman in the 100 hurdles (17.66), Corinne Walters in the 300 hurdles (54.46) and Gosman in the triple jump (30-5 3/4).

The Roseburg girls compiled 95.5 points, while the boys scored 90.

THURSDAY MEET

Oakland boys take 1st at six-way meet

OAKRIDGE — Colby DeVasier (100 meters) and Joel Jackson (discus) won events, but the Oakland boys used their depth to finish first in a District 1 meet on Thursday at Oakridge.

The Oakers compiled 173 points, followed by Lowell (120), Oakridge (89.5), Triangle Lake (73), Mohawk (42.5) and Days Creek (12). Triangle Lake won the girls’ meet with 133.33 points, followed by Oakland (110.33), Oakridge (83), Lowell (65.33), Days Creek (50.5) and Mohawk (48.5).

DeVasier was clocked in 12.00 seconds in the 100, while Jackson threw the discus 115 feet, 4 inches. Placing second for the Oakers were Treavor Porter in the 800 (2:25.90), Nathaniel Oberman in the 1,500 (4:52.50), Gage Lyons in the high jump (5-0), Chris Garrison in the long jump (18-1 1/4) and Braydon Simmons in the triple jump (34-1 1/2).

The Oakland girls got wins from Cora Gallop in the 200 (28.00) and 400 (1:05.00) and Savannah Swan in the shot (34-1) and discus (110-5). Also victorious were the 4x100 relay team of Maria Sigl, Gallop, Gabby Arts and Swan (55.20) and the 4x400 relay of Jesse Herbert, Katie Westbrook, Swan and Arts (4:38.80). Jazmyn Herrington of Days Creek won the triple jump (31-3).

Finishing second were Isabel Golemon of D.C. in the 400 (1:09.90), Herbert in the high jump (4-4) and Sigl in the 100 hurdles (19.00) and 300 hurdles (54.20).
