Prep Golf: Roseburg' Dittemore third at Grants Pass

GRANTS PASS — The course was unkind all the way around Monday at the first Southwest Conference girls golf counter of the season.

Defending champion Sheldon accumulated 322 strokes as a team to win easily, but the next best score was Roseburg’s 387 — the Indians’ highest of the season — at the Grants Pass Invitational, played at the G.P. Country Club.

Roseburg sophomore Clare Dittemore carded an 84, tying for third place individually. Sheldon junior Haleigh Krause took medalist honors with a 73.

The Indians’ second-best score was Alexis Horn’s 100.

They’ll have two more SWC regular season rounds to go with two at the district tournament. The next is April 15 at the Eugene Country Club.

Roseburg 2nd at

G.P. Invitational

GRANTS PASS — Garrett Ramsey tied for fifth place, Arie Yraguen and Zach Wilson tied for seventh and the Roseburg High boys golf team took second as a team Monday at the Grants Pass Invitational.

Ashland’s Matt Hedges shot a 4-over-par 76 to win the tournament, which was a hybrid event that will not count as one of the five Southwest Conference rounds. North Medford tallied 321 strokes as a team to beat out the second-place Indians by eight.

Ramsey carded an 80, and Wilson and Yraguen both checked in with 82s. Devin Caylor, the winner of last week’s Cascade Challenge Invitational, shot a 40 on the front-nine and finished with an 85, missing the top ten by one stroke.

The Indians are at Redmond’s Eagle Crest Golf Resort for the High Desert Challenge on Thursday and Friday.

Sutherlin’s Franke

wins FWL event

FLORENCE — Sutherlin’s Tyler Franke turned in a 78 to win by four strokes and the Bulldogs had the best team score by 18 in Far West League play Monday at Sandpines Golf Course.

Matt Tew had a 97 and Ian Downs a 101 for Sutherlin, which posted a team score of 383. Coquille (401) was led by Terrence Edwards’ 82.

Through two tournaments, Sutherlin has an 11-stroke lead in first place ahead of Brookings. The Bulldogs are up again next Monday at Salmon Run in Brookings.
