BERKELEY, Calif. — Scott Heineman hit two of Oregon’s four home runs and had four RBIs to lead No. 16 Oregon to a 10-4 Pac-12 Conference win over California at Evans Diamond Saturday night.
Heineman finished 3-for-5 with three runs scored for the Ducks (26-8, 11-3 Pac-12). Ryon Healy was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored, Brett Thomas 2-for-5 with two runs. Connor Hoffman 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Mitchell Tolman 2-for-4.
Cole Irvin (7-1) picked up the win, allowing four runs on seven hits in five innings.
OSU 8, Utah 3 — In Corvallis, Beau Day went 4-for-4 and drove in two runs to send the sixth-ranked Oregon State baseball team to a win over Utah Saturday afternoon at Goss Stadium.
Dylan Davis and Tyler Smith each had two RBIs and Andy Peterson stroked three hits. Day singled four times to pace the club offensively as Oregon State (27-6 overall, 9-2 Pac-12 Conference) had 13 hits as a team.
Andrew Moore picked up the win to improve to 7-1 this season, working 6 2/3 innings.
OSU 1, Utah 0 — Matt Boyd pitched a two-hit shutout in a win over the Utes in the series opener.
Boyd (7-1), a left-hander, struck out eight. Tyler Smith scored the only run of the contest in the first inning, singling down the rightfield line, moving to third on a single by Michael Conforto and coming home on a groundout by Dylan Davis.
Oregon 3, Cal 2 — Tommy Thorpe allowed just three hits to lead the Ducks past the Golden Bears in the series opener.
Thorpe, a left-hander, struck out seven in 7 1/3 innings while allowing one earned run. Jimmie Sherfy pitched a perfect ninth inning to pick up his 10th save. J.J. Altobelli and Brett Thomas led the Ducks, both going 2-for-3.
