Letter: Be responsible about educating children

Be responsible with education

There are many things in the world today that cause us stress. Some are more important than others. We are concerned about the future of our world, so whom can we support to make our world a better place? In my mind, that would be our children and the teachers who have chosen to be the ones to educate them and help prepare them for a successful future.

Who helped you get your education so you could go out into the world, support your families and help others in need? All of us were supported by voters in our communities, along with our parents, friends, relatives, and all the people behind the scenes pulling for us to better ourselves. There are a lot of us in this community who have received our education and raised our children; they have received their education. Some of us have grandchildren and we want them to have the same opportunities we had to be successful. I would guess that all of us have children somewhere in our lives that we care about and that we want to see succeed.

All of us have a responsibility to help make that happen. The best investment you will ever make is to vote for and invest in children. We need to support our children and the amazing teachers who give of themselves to create successful individuals. It’s a small price to pay.

Vote “yes” on the Roseburg school levy. Give our kids a firm ground to grow on. Give our teachers the environment, curriculum and technology they need to prepare our children for their future. It is an investment that will pay you back time and again when you see the pride our children have in themselves.
