Who is FIRMGROUND for Kids?
Are you wondering who these people are who call themselves FIRMGROUND for Kids supporters? Well, I’ll tell you.
FIRMGROUND for Kids is a grassroots organization made up of everyday citizens: representatives from the K-12 schools, local business members, parents, grandparents, retirees, teachers and administrators who want to make a positive contribution to Roseburg’s K-12 students.
FIRMGROUND is providing the community with fact-based information regarding the financial condition of schools in an effort to provide sufficient funding for the Roseburg School District. We are working closely with the administration and school board to not only come up with a reasonable bond levy, but also to find areas for cost savings and improved efficiency in the future. In addition, we are working hard to create a pathway that serves the taxpayers and our students.
Currently, FIRMGROUND is supporting the Roseburg School Bond Levy put on the May 21 ballot. It provides the needed K-12 funding for curriculum, computers, technology, and urgent critical building maintenance. At our insistence, the bond levy was intentionally written to specifically provide funding in those three areas. The Bond Levy provides funds to all schools K-12 and cannot be reallocated to other areas.
FIRMGROUND, Roseburg schools and our students need your support. For less than $5 per month, on average, we can provide the additional funding necessary for the education our children deserve.
We need your support. We urge you to visit our website at www.firmgroundforkids.com for more information, to volunteer or to contribute.
Our kids have heard “no” long enough. It’s time to say “yes.” Get informed, get the facts, vote “yes” on the Roseburg school bond levy!
