Letter: Morality must be the foundation of our future

Ancient history repeats itself

Just as the Romans vanished, in my opinion, so will we in the United States of America, if we do not see the errors of our ways. We were founded by our forefathers on the principle that “Liberty: Freedom bridled with Morality,” is the foundation for our existence and our future. However, as I see it today we have morals, behavior and ignorance of youth that could lead to our demise.

When our freedoms are under attack by a minority with a big mouth and by the media, we lose the objectivity to reason because of our desire to act. When our youth and their youth are bridled with a debt that this generation voted for because of ignorance, it results in a generation of youth down and out.

When morality goes, so do we. And we have lost and given up so much already! In this day and age, our youth are raised on Internet games, mostly violent; on Hollywood with no morals; and by parents willing to give up the right to raise their own children.

I have worked hard all my life and I will retire soon, unlike the 50 percent on government welfare today. Ya’ll better figure it out, ‘cause it’s up to you to keep what you have.
