Letter: Will The News-Review comment on Stewart Parkway S curves?

Give us ‘why’ on S curve

In noted writer Dylan Thomas’ wonderful story, A Child’s Christmas In Wales, the young boy states about a new present: “... this book tells me everything about the wasp but why.” Recent readers of The News-Review might ask the same question. After four letters questioning the wisdom and sanity of straightening the S curve on Stewart Parkway, we have no response from the city, city council, or chiefly, our newspaper, on the magic question: why?

Readers of this paper are used to its publishers being seen and not heard, yet Mr. Ackerman regales us weekly with his views on the profound and the trivial. Here is an opportunity for him to give a serious look at an issue of perceived governmental waste of money that is desperately needed in other areas. Waste in government is justifiably a big issue across the country, now. Here is an opportunity for the leader of our newspaper to help us understand why and to share an editorial opinion about it. Is this project valuable and why, or is it some city planner’s make-work dream?
