Roseburg police subdue suspect with Taser

Roseburg officers shot with a Taser a man who set several fires inside a residence Tuesday and refused to submit to being handcuffed, police said.

The 53-year-old man was cited on suspicion of two counts of recklessly endangering another person and released to the Roseburg Veterans Affairs Medical Center for a mental evaluation.

Officers responded to a home at 10:20 p.m. in the 1300 block of Pine Street for the fires. When officers arrived, the man was confrontational and barricaded himself inside a bedroom, police said.

Two roommates were escorted from the residence. Officers forced their way into the bedroom. When the man did not comply with orders, he was tased, police said.
