Letter: Roseburg High School music program was amazing

Music program was amazing

What a privilege it was to be entertained by the Roseburg High School singers at their Spring Choir Concert in the Rose Theater. Their talent was beyond anything I’ve heard at a high school level.

Kudos to Director Dean Friessen, who gave these individuals the opportunity to direct, to sing solos and to choreograph dance steps to many numbers. Their confidence as they performed without a director in front of them and the confidence he had in these students to go it alone, was truly amazing.

The senior student who spoke for the 31 students who were graduating this year said Dean taught them to love each other and that was so apparent to us in the audience.

When you hear so much about bullying in the schools, Director Dean Friessen has a gift that Roseburg High School can be proud of. Some schools no longer have a music program; I can’t even imagine what that would be like.

So, thank you to Dean Friessen and his students, for giving us, the audience, a truly amazing performance.
