Letter: More skill, compassion needed for VA Cemetery care

Improve our VA Cemetery care

Friday, Aug. 23, “Cemetery promises to get rid of the brown” was the title of a news story in The News-Review. This was the second offensive practice of the contractor at the Roseburg National Cemetery.

First, they discarded all the floral arrangements before Memorial Day. (Yes, one of those was mine for my departed husband, a veteran of World War II.) Then they planted trees in scorching weather. A fourth-grader would know better.

Who is the crew boss? Is he or she a certified horticulturist, a master gardener, a person of compassion, or just “run of the mill?”
