Letter: Teach free thinking and Bill of Rights, not mindless citizenry and Common Core

Heard about Common Core?

Common Core will transform and nationalize school curriculum from kindergarten through the 12th grade. It is a partnership between big government and corporations with insufficient public dialogue and feedback from experienced educators. Common Core is being rolled out in 45 states and the District of Columbia.

Common Core will create a generation of test-takers, molded and shaped by the federal government and its corporate allies. It is not about educational reform. Common Core is about pushing a curriculum shrouded in pre-testing, testing and test prep, teaching students how to take tests but not how to think. It will transform this current generation into hopelessness and believing that they have no Constitutional rights.

Common Core will position the government one step closer to having absolute power over its mindless citizenry, rendering them ignorant and unable to think for themselves.

Our children need to know their basic freedoms guaranteed under our Constitution and our Bill of Rights.
