Police Log:Sex offenses, drugs, chickens and cows

These logs are the highlights of initial emergency calls and reports to the Douglas County Dispatch Center. They do not represent all the incidents or their final outcomes.

Tuesday

6:51 a.m. — Two-vehicle crash in the 17000 block of Old Highway 99 North, Oakland. No injuries reported.

7:15 a.m. — Large fire visible west of the golf course in Sutherlin.

10:43 a.m. — Person walking on North River Drive, Roseburg, reported being bitten by a small schnauzer that lives nearby.

11:17 a.m. — More than 20 chickens penned up in small crates in the 500 block of Boyer Road, Riddle. Caller said the birds get loose and get into their yard.

4:57 p.m. — Four juveniles believed to be smoking marijuana in a covered bridge on A Avenue and North First Street, Drain.

5:11 p.m. — 14 cows wandering loose in the 4800 block of Rice Creek Road, Riddle, tearing up yards.

8:15 p.m. — Theft of firewood in the 1000 block of North Old Pacific Highway, Myrtle Creek.

8:40 p.m. — Man in the 200 block of Grant Smith Road, Roseburg, was believed to be selling drugs in the parking lot.

11:32 p.m. — A man, possibly intoxicated, crashed into a fence and porch in the 170000 block of Highway 42, Camas Valley.

ARRESTS

The News-Review publishes the names of individuals who have been arrested on suspicion of at least one felony charge or three misdemeanors or a combination of felony and misdemeanor charges.

Oregon Department of Justice

Leland Dale Benson, 67, of Oakland, on suspicion of five counts of first-degree encouraging child sex abuse and five counts of second-degree encouraging child sex abuse.

Douglas County sheriff

Jeffrey Orrin Beebe, 39, of Riddle on suspicion of fourth-degree assault, second-degree criminal mischief and unlawful entry into a motor vehicle.

Donald James Brockett, 35, of Myrtle Creek on suspicion of failure to register as a sex offender and a warrant for a parole violation.

Korrina Renea Cockrum, 25, of Roseburg on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, and warrants for possession of methamphetamine and giving false information to a police officer.
