Letter: Respect one another

Denounce hate and paranoia

Kudos to the author of the well-written letter about hate. Electing an intelligent black president has brought out the worst in us. Never has there been such disrespect and hate shown any president.

We listen to the radio and TV personalities who hate Obama. We listen to egomaniac Rush Limbaugh, “On loan from God,” who knows it all, is mean-spirited and hateful, and we hang onto each word as though it were the gospel truth. Apparently, he even believes his listeners are half-wits, as evidenced by his “I’m back, with half my brain tied behind my back to even the playing field.”

And we believe every idiotic, paranoid conspiracy about Obama: he wants to take away our guns; he’s a Koran carrying Muslim; he isn’t an American; he wants to change things so he can serve a third term; and on and on it goes.

To the gentleman who apparently knows millions of non-whites who don’t like Obama’s policies, may I remind him there are millions more, whites and non-whites, who voted for Obama and do like him.

Oh, and Obama wants to drive us into financial ruin! Forget about a recent president who lied us into a war that cost more than a trillion dollars and will cost millions more as we care for our wounded veterans. That war killed and maimed thousands of Americans, and killed and displaced thousands of innocent Iraqis. It got us many more potential terrorists who hate us and it didn’t help Iraq at all, since they are still killing one another weekly.
