Police log: Truckers texting in Riddle

These logs are the highlights of initial emergency calls and reports to the Douglas County Dispatch Center. They do not represent all the incidents or their final outcomes.

POLICE LOG

Tuesday

Douglas County sheriff

3:49 a.m. — A suspicious man was caught trying to open a back door in the 2500 block of Kerr Street, Roseburg. The man said “Jesus sent him” when asked why he was there.

2:11 p.m. — Two vehicles were disabled in the intersection of Grand Smith Road and Old Highway 99 south, Green.

2:47 p.m. — Truckers were reportedly speeding and texting in the 400 block of Park Street, Riddle.

3:27 p.m. — Vehicles were reportedly driving the wrong way and on the sidewalks to get to a side road in Riddle.

6:09 p.m. — A man and a woman were fighting outside an apartment building in the 200 block of E Street, Riddle.

ACCIDENTS

Tuesday

Douglas County sheriff

6:35 p.m. — A car went off the road and approximately 10 feet down an embankment in the 9300 block of Little River Road, Glide.

7:56 p.m. — A car rolled into a ditch in the 2900 block of Melrose Road. The driver got out of the vehicle. Alcohol was possibly involved.

ARRESTS

The News-Review publishes the names of individuals who have been arrested on suspicion of at least one felony charge or three misdemeanors or a combination of felony and misdemeanor charges.

Douglas County sheriff

Nicholas Michael Bennett, 27, of Myrtle Creek, on suspicion of first-degree criminal mischief, resisting arrest and initiating a false report.

Amanda Marie Olson, 28, of Roseburg, on suspicion of second-degree assault.
